Arpita Sen, a Bharatanatyam performer and teacher, is a senior disciple of Guru Dr. Smt. Thankamani Kutty (Kalamandalam Kolkata) and Smt. Girija Balagopal. She was put into training at the age of 6 by her parents, Late Swapan Kumar Sen and Smt. Tapati Sen. She performed her Arangetram in 2003. She is a recipient of the National Scholarship from the Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India. She also received the Kindled Spirits Award by The Dance India, on International Women’s Day, 2018.
As a member of the Kalamandalam Peforming Wing and a solo performer, she has performed in several prestigious festivals in India and abroad. She was also appointed as the dance teacher at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Air Force Station, Ojhar, Nasik.
She pursued learning Mohiniyattam and pursues her Western Classical training in Violin from The Calcutta School of Music. Academically, she is a Masters degree holder in English. She is deeply indebted to her gurus, parents and her sibling Aranya Sen, for their unconditional guidance, unwavering contribution and relentless support.
